Tortuga Island & Cobo Blanco Island are two amazing dive sites you must experience. Around Tortuga Island there are a few dive sites to experience. The best part is they are VERY close to our villa so it's easy to get to and plan.
El Acuario has a large quantity and variety of tropical fish which surround divers during their immersion. This area is comprised of canyons and large corals. The depth ranges from 3-30 meters making this a great spot for divers of all levels.
Cañones is Spanish for Canyons, this site was appropriately named due to the numerous canyons that cover the ocean floor. While exploring you'll find many lobsters, various moray eels and parrotfish. The depth ranges between 5-30 meters and has excellent visibility. This is also a common spot for turtles & southern stingrays.
Bye Bye Reef is an exciting drift dive as it follows a current that takes you past large volcanic rock walls on the east tip of Tortuga Island. You'll see a variety of tropical fish as well as spotted jacks, Manta rays and Eagle rays.
Mortero is a shallow 7-15 meter dive excellent for beginners with lots of fish. This area is also great for snorkelling.
Franklin Chang Wreck Dive is a recent wreck that lays on the ocean floor at a depth of 23 meters. The wreck is quickly becoming a home to more and more marine life like different snappers and jacks.
La Cueva is Spanish for The Cave, this is where you're most likely to see 2-3 white tip reef sharks sleeping.
For booking tours we suggest Turismo Curu Island Adventure they have a wide variety of snorkel / scuba tours and lessons to choose from. Departure is usually at 9am sharp so be sure to arrive early. I also love that they take 40% of their income and invests into projects that help the environment.
We also suggest bringing eco friendly biodegradable & barrier reef safe sunscreen for protection because if you have to buy this in Costa Rica you'll easily spend double. We love the organic sun screen line by garden goddess.
